Life is good

A truely amazing woman who has helped me through so much in my life once told me that when you wake up in the morning, look in the mirror at yourself, to just say, "Life is good!" and then go about your day. Well, this morning I forgot this usual thing, went off to class, and my morning started out horrific. But after my anatomy class, I took a moment in the bathroom to calm myself down, and just say, "Life is good". The rest of my day was AMAZING! Not only did I get my cheer uniform, but my coach has put me in the middle front and center for our routine! I'm so super grateful and excited. Then we scored a perfect 100% on our cleaning inspection, then Daniel came over and we talked for about an hr or so. So, when life has you down, all you can do is look at yourself in the mirror and say, "Life is good". Thank you Sister Glem!

And so...

Ok- so today we ran all over town to find the urgent care; so we finally know where it is... We found out after an xray that I didn't break my foot, or fracture it, just tore the ligaments in the top of my foot. Ya, OUCH. So then we ran to like 3 stores trying to get crutches... No one was either open, wouldn't take my insurance, or they were like $40+. No way am I spending that much on crutches. So we took a field trip to Rigby. Even though its only 10 miles away, it felt soooo good to get outta this town! I finally found some for $16... so I bought them. I have the bestest friends in the whole world! They helped me so much through this whole weekend with EVERYTHING! I love them! (Yes, that means you Cassie, Morgan, Stephanie, Alicyn, Marrisa) You guys are the best things EVER!

What a Nasty Day!

Oh goodness- today was just downright aweful! Ok, heres partially the reason why... I went to the testing center to take my math test. I think I did fine, but then as I got up, my foot was aparently asleep, which it didnt feel like it. I stepped on it wrong. You know when it seems like its not really there? Ya it was like that... and then I stepped on the whole side of my left foot, and it cracked. I winced under the pain, and took another step to continue to leave, and did it again. I hobbled back in pain, trying to hold back tears to my apartment. My girlfriends were very helpful and caring. My Iteam leader Daniel and like 5 of his guy friends came to give me a blessing, then my girlfriends carried me halfway down the stairs when another guy came and carried me to the car. It was very nice and great. I love BYUI... its a safe place here, where people know me and don't care about my past. Well then I went to the clinic and they turned me away because it was 15 minutes to closing. So I have to go back tomorrow too. So not cool. Oh, then Jake came over and hung out for an hour and made things a little better. So yes, thank you Jake, you are my hero savior! You're the bestest friend EVER! I have 55 days til I can come home and see those who matter most to me. And So now I have to sleep on the couch, because I can't get up onto my bed... this sucks! Come back Jake! Come back!

And the Results Say....

And the results say that she makes it! Life cannot get any better! It has been way too long since I've had pompoms in my hands. Too long since I've cheered and watched football under the lights in the freezing cold! Too long that I have not had a uniform on! But now, I can have it all back! I am officially a BYU-IDAHO CHEERLEADER! I'm so excited! This is going to be the best part of my college semester, so far! I have the best everything and everyone! I love life! Can things get any better?

Tryouts day 1

Ok- so today was SOOO hectic! I almost started crying because I am so emotionally, physically and mentally exhausted! Its not even funny... I had to get up at 7:00, which then turned into 7:15, which then turned into 7:35 for class at 8am... I made it with 5 minutes to spare (be proud, I was considering skipping today!) I went to my classes from 8-1pm, came home, PUT ON A DRESS!!!! (its not sunday, so that should be against the rules!) for devotional, grabbed my cheer stuff and went to devotional at 2pm. While sitting there, I remembered that I forgot my cheer shoes and socks back home. Devotional ended at 2:45, so I ran home, changed into my clothes, ran to the gym, while stretching ripped my favorite sweatpants (dont laugh, I'm really upset! I kicked too high and they went "RIP!"), ran and changed into my basketball shorts, and started tryouts. Tryouts were easier than I thought they would be. I was afraid that they would call things differently than we did on Union's cheer squad. Everything is the same except they load in differently for preps and extensions. The flier just jumps into your hands and you are supposed to just push her up. Really odd, but the coach seemed to understand and said it was no biggy. The cheer is equally easy, and then came the dance. As they are teaching this dance to me, I'm thinking, "Hey, I know this... how do I know this?" I remembered that it was a spirit dance that the Union High school learned at cheer camp my Jr year. I was sooo stoked! It was the best part of my day. I then proceeded to come home, clean the house, do my homework, bake cookies, watch Glee (Very sad btw how everyone on that show is treating eachother), and then watch Raising Hope (new show) with my favorite texan marissa! I proceeded then to take a shower and I am currently getting ready for bed and it's 11:30ish. Can you say EXHAUSTING?!

Sand dunes

Tonight for family home evening we all went to the sand dunes... so much sand! It's like the beach, just with no water anywhere! Just GIANT hills of sand EVERYWHERE!! People in my dorm hall were jumping off the hills into more sand, while I sat and took pictures. And then I get home to find my whole left back pocket had a giant thing of sand in it... how the heck does that happen? Goodness gracious! Oh! And I fond out that my last day of school before thanksgiving break is the 18th of November- so I could be coming home the 18th or the 19th! Yay! Im excited to see you all! I miss you guys! And I am having a blast here with my roomies, my texans, and my daughter (who broke her phone today *tisk tisk*).

Well- it's official

Well- like the title says, it's official... I was sustained and whatever the word is, blessed or whatever, to be the 1st Relief Society President int he 39th ward. It's really cool, my first councilor is Danielle from Washington, and Stephanie from Utah is my second. We are going to have a blast together; I can tell already! Tonight we are once again having our traditional sunday dinner, and then we are going to a stake fireside. And I plan *fingures crossed* to get to bed before 10pm, maybe... since class tomorrow is at 745am

L-O-V-E

It was sung in one of my favorite movies (Dirty Dancing) "Love is strange, plenty people take it for a game". Well, sorry to those other people who do- but I take it very seriously. A young heart is not a thing to screw around and play with. You are honest 100% of the time about 100% of everything. If you have a problem, you talk it out. True love is with your best friend; you wouldn't want to marry anyone who was just the hottie, but someone you actually want to talk to, care about and have them care about you back. And another thing- I don't understand the whole "don't date your best friend's ex" if that rule applies to everyone, then everyone in the world breaks it. When you meet someone, then you become friends right? And when you're friends, then you meet their friends, and essentially everyone in the world is connected. People can date others just for fun can't they? Sure, they can be serious- but they can also have just fun with eachother can't they? And the last thing- ex's.... They are people too... they can go out and date others; they are not your "property" once you dump them or you two seperate... so essentially, they can date whoever they wish! And if that person is say, one of your friends, then you should move on and be happy about it; that they have found new happiness just like you have! Just saying!

Mamma Mia!

O goodness! Last night me, Cassie, Morgan and Stephanie all went to Abba Mania! It was unbelievably amazing! The best thing I've ever seen! True, its not the origional people, but still! They were really good! We had such a blast singing along with the music and being thrust back to the 70's. Union won their game against Westview- so that's good! Thank you mom and John for texting me all through the game! Love you both so very much!! Then stayed up to watch Ghost Adventures with my roommates and text John til the wee hours of the morning! That's my friday's for you!

Rules

It was once said by a great man that I truely admire on the subject of rules that "the code is more what you'd call "guidelines" than actual rules." Well, no offense to Captain Barbossa, but rules are there not to be broken, but to help you stay safe. Rules are set in place to keep you out of trouble, and if you break a rule, then you are not only putting yourself in danger, but most-likely others as well. According to another great pirate, Pintel from Pirates of the Caribbean also said on the topic of codes, rules and other such necessary things of life, "We must honor the Code." This is true; the code is there, whether we agree with it or not, and therefore we must do as it has instructed us. But my favorite pirate ever said this concerning the topic of rules, "The only rules that really matter are these: what a man can do and what a man can't do." It is not, what a man is not supposed to do but does anyways!

Oh well- se la vie!

Ok- so I looked at the clock and it was 1:30pm; I jumped out of bed in a complete panic that I had missed both of my classes for the day! I rushed out the door, still in my pj's acrossed campus to go try and explain to my professors why I had missed both of their classes. Embarrassing myself further, ran into my science class trying to explain; my professor simply stated... "You're in your pjs." And then...

I woke up to my phone ringing at 6:15am- I thought to myself... hmmm... not a bad dream, lets try it out! But guilt got to me, and I finally got up and rushed to get ready at 7:15 for my 7:45 class. Then I thought my book of mormon class started at 10:15, so I went in, sat down, and then noticed that it wasnt my teacher, so I had to get up, look like a fool, and walk out. Again, another embarrassing day in the college life of me! So I got home (oh btw: I was called last night to be relief society president of my ward, ya.... so not funny... the first thing I said to my bishop was, "My dad called you didn't he? DON'T LIE! I know he did!") sat down and prayed for a long time to recieve inspiration of who to call to things, and as I looked at the girl's pictures, I thought to myself, "hmm... they look like they'd be good at teaching, or caring for someone, ect ect." Idk if that was the spirit or what, but that's what happened. I just need to fill 2 more positions, and I'm stuck on them. Then I did all my homework, went to Book of Mormon class at my right time; 12:45-2:45. Then I came home, cleaned the whole front room and my side of my room, did my laundry, and then went to a dorm dinner/info night. Now I'm going to bed because tomorrow is my 8am class and it was already hard to get up this morning... so goodnight dear world!

FHE!!!!

Ok, so hot clay.. jk cassie! So we had family home evening with our whole ward tonight. So much fun! we went bowling and got into our family home evening groups. It was amazing! Then we went back to our dorm and took crazy pictures! (well, Cassie, Morgan, Myself and Stephanie) We also took tons of videos of dancing too... here is one of them!

Oh the Glorious Joys of Being a Freshmen

Remember when it was your first day of high school and you were the little freshman who knew nothing about the school- so therefore all newbies were the "stupid freshmen" so named by the upper classmen? And you wanna seem all cool- so you are trying to figure out things by yourself without asking for help, then just ending up asking anyways cuz you are wandering around looking completely and hopelessly lost? Well that SO happened to me today... I'm pretty sure I had several hundred people looking at me, nodding their heads, thinking "stupid freshmen"... I needed to go print out some things for my classes, and I didn't know how. So me and my roommate Cassie just went and were observing how the upper classmen did it. We pretty much got the gist of it, but our stuff wouldn't print... so then we did end up having to ask the person at the desk. She thought we were just the cutest things in the world probably for having to ask. So ya- after walking around the library for about half and hour, we finally got our stuff printed. Then I had to go to my last class of the day, and as I went to walk in there was this note on the door which read, "Lab class 264, bro buhrley move to room 283" Ok, I was totally lost and confussed... so I went into the classroom... when another teacher came in that wasn't mine, I didnt want to look like a fool, so I had my dad call me so I would have an excuse to leave... I went to the other classroom- completely empty. So I went back, and just as I was about to turn around to go see if my teacher might have walked it, he was right behind me and asked, "where are you going? class is about to start." Me- Shocked face that says, "O gosh! please kill me! I'm so lost and confussed" so back into the classroom I went again, everyone looking at me all weird and funny, and I had lost the seat in the back, so now I had to sit in the front (which was so better because I focused more) but I could feel their eyes mocking me... So that's been my day so far... Tonight im going bowling with my ward for FHE. It should be fun, but for now, its back to studying!

Goodness Gracious!

Can college get any more funnier and more of a blast?! Seriously! Today was a blast! First came church... they do EVERYTHING backwards! You go to RS, then Sunday School, THEN last is sacrament meeting... totally weird. But there are (in my opinion) some cute guys there. Then I came home to clean our apartment/dorm (i really don't know what to call it... its kinda both!) because we were supposed to have the 4 texans and then our half roomies form 414 here (they are constantly over so they practically live here anyways)over for dinner. The Texans ended up not showing, but it was still fun to watch Steph put spagettie sause on her stuffing (YUCK!) Our little table wasn't nearly big enough, but we made it work! Then we went to a fireside where Elder Scott talked about finding/loving your eternal companion. NEVER in my LIFE have I EVER heard an apostle, a cute old man, say the world "Stupid" 3 times in a talk... I think he just wanted to get us to laugh (hint: NEVER take a girl to a movie until you are married to her... otherwise you are considered "stupid" by an apostle of the church!) Then Morgan danced round the kitchen to Lady Gaga... it was HILLARIOUS!!!! Caught it all on tape too!

BTW

Here is the picture of me when I broke the dishwasher! only the soap was all over the floor and still leaking out the sides ok?

Thursday, September 9, 2010

Today was "not" a "good" day!

ok- so not only did I nod off in 2 of my classes today, but then I come home and decide to do dishes, and what happens? The dishwasher decides it doesnt like liquid soap, so it explodes all over the floor. so I had to clean that up, and then I spent literally 5 hours on homework before I just gave up for the night (thank goodness I don't have classes tomorrow!) So much work for the first day! But my class schedules say there is less work next week, so thats good. Then I go to wash my clothes, and I look for my keys for about 15 minutes, just to find that it was in my pocket. So frustrating! Then I had to pay 50 cents for dryer because I had to run it twice because my clothes wouldn't dry with just one go through. So ya, that was my afternoon! Hopefully tomorrow I can actually sit down, focus on my work, and nothing explode bubbles everywhere!

1st day!

Ok- so this years first day of school wasn't as nearly fun as the first day of say, kindergarten, but it was fun. I got up this morning at, can you believe it, 4:55am to go to the temple with some of the people in my ward. Its so different there than the one back home, but still beautiful! Then I PRAYED I would be able to stay awake for my classes, which for the most part I did. Nodded off a few times in Human Anatomy (just when he was telling about himself and about the structure of the class- not during note taking), and then again in American Foundations, which is after my math class, towards the end. But that was about it. Now its onto studying and doing my homework early (since its my goal not to procrastinate this year at all as little as I can anyways- sometimes life does get in the way!) even though I want to do so many other cool things! Oh, btw: I made the dishwasher explode with bubbles- apparently, it doesn't like liquid soap! Learned at least one new thing today!

The time of my life!

Oh, oh my lanta! College is sooo super fun here at BYU-Idaho! Tonight was INight, so our ITeam went around together- we watched (emphasis on the WATCHED part) Mechanical bull ridings, went and played Lazer Tag (which I won bytheway!)then we went to a "dance"- I sat around and talked to my Iteam leader Daniel. This campus is soooo pretty and everyone here is so nice! You could be walking back from the bookstore or something and people will just smile and say hi! Or they'll just open doors for you like its no big. I love it here and can't wait for school tomorrow morning. I have to get up at like 5am to get ready for our ward's temple trip at 545am, then I have classes starting at 8-1pm... am I going to be tired???? Probably, but they did say today that if you pray and prepare before hand, God will help you- so to that I say, goodnight world! pleasant dreams!

I am HERE!!!

Finally! After driving with mom and dad for 13 hours (give or take), I am finally here at BYU-Idaho! I am all unpacked- which didnt take as long as I thought it would; only 2 and 1/2 hours for 12+ boxes, and I have all my ID cards, books, clothes and everything else a college girl needs! Thank goodness! So finally 12+ boxes, an albertsons shopping trip, and 4 long lines later, I'm finally here and ready to start school. The goodbye to my parents was easier than I thought it would be- I don't know, maybe its just because it hasnt really hit me yet that I'm here for the next 2-3 months before I'll see them again! Who knows! I love my dorm though! I was the first here so I picked the bigger of the two rooms, and the side where I have the most room. Yes my 12+ boxes all fit somewhere in this tiny apartment-like dorm, which suprised me and my parents. Now I just have to wait til thursday for my classes to start! which is cool because I get my first day of school on thursday, then friday, saturday and sunday off, then the actual week begins for me! *giggle giggle giggle!* I'm sharing a room with Cassie Russo who is from Florida- she is soooooo awesome! I can tell that as the semester goes on, we shall become Best Friends! That's about all for now! Love you all and miss you so much!
